Grey Gypsies of Australia
Western Australia - 2010
In between our two visits to Northam we drove north via Toodyay, Chittering and Gin Gin to stay at the Western Flora Park. This caravan park, on 30 or more acres of prime sand country wildflowers, is run by Alan Tinker, a noted expert on the wild flowers of the sand & wheat belts, who has had three new Australian wild flowers named after him. He conducts evening walks round his property and runs tag-a-long four-wheel drive tours onto the nearby tracks to see the abundance of changing flora from May to November. We gained a lot of botanical knowledge from his expertise and the interesting evening sessions in the auditorium, examining the flowers and micro fauna projected from under his microscope. check the photo galleries for some of the many photos we took there.
